Subtropical Storm Sean forms southwest of Bermuda (AP)

MIAMI ? Subtropical Storm Sean has developed midway between Bermuda and the Bahamas, but it is not currently any threat to land.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Tuesday that Sean's maximum sustained winds are 45 mph (75 kph). It is located about 445 miles (720 km) southwest of Bermuda. The storm is nearly stationary and the five-day tracking forecast shows it heading generally north and east over the Atlantic, possibly brushing Bermuda at the end of the week.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for Bermuda.

The Atlantic hurricane season lasts from June to the end of November.
