(AP) ? Republican presidential contender Rick Santorum says there is more to America than taxes and the economy, and the contest for the GOP nomination should reflect that.

Santorum on Friday said the United States was founded on its faith and the current presidential debate should not ignore that. Santorum is outlining a social agenda that would reinstate a ban on gays and lesbians serving openly in the military as well as bar chaplains from performing same-sex ceremonies on military bases.

Santorum is also calling on Congress to abolish the San Francisco-based Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and pass a federal law permitting prayer in schools.

Santorum is trailing in the polls but is working hard in Iowa to woo social conservatives who have great sway in this early nominating state.
